December 10, 2021- Due to accidents and various health issues, around 2500-3000 blood units were required each day to meet the need of Filipinos. In response to these demands, the National Irrigation Administration began a synchronized bloodletting operation to save lives.
The bloodletting activity, dubbed as "Dugtong Buhay ni Bong," is part of the agency’s Corporate Social Responsibilities and in time with the Administrator’s Thanksgiving. The agency envisions helping not only its clientele but all Filipinos who will need blood in times of emergency.
For three (3) consecutive years, NIA Caraga has participated in the Nationwide Bloodletting Program in collaboration with the Red Cross Agusan del Norte Chapter held in held in the NIA Caraga Canteen.
A total of 23 bags of blood were collected from donors throughout the region by the Red Cross.
