SEPTEMBER 06, 2023- The final/initial test run for the completed Bislig City Integrated Development Project (BCIDP) has been successfully conducted at Barangay Borboanan, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
In the course of time, BCIDP started its construction on March 23, 2012 with Borboanan River as its Water Source. During its construction phase, several typhoons occurred throughout the project implementation which lead to the delay of its completion since some of its completed portions need repair. But with the relentless effort of NIA CARAGA through Surigao del Sur Irrigation Management Office and the Contractor of BCIDP, it is now ready to provide water irrigation services to 1,250 hectares of irrigable lands to its 508 farmer beneficiaries. BCIDP cost 715 million which includes a main canal of 11,640 meters with 159 units of canal structures and 58 units of sub-lateral structures.
Farmer beneficiaries of BCIDP are grateful upon the realization of the said project paving a way for them on producing rice twice a year as their cropping season depends on NIAs irrigation facilities & services.
On the other hand, SP Vic Alvar, Committee Chairperson on Agriculture of Bislig City Government, expressed his gratitude to NIA-CARAGA for their unending support to their local farmers in achieving its purpose of uplifting their lives by providing water irrigation services and guaranteed full support for NIA's projects aiming towards a sustainable agriculture sector as today's top concern because of the ongoing hike of rice produce in the market.
Present during the event are NIA-Caraga Region EOD Manager Engr. Rosalina B. Caiña, SDS IMO Manager, Engr. Adeline H. Manlunas, Bislig City Government Officials, Borboanan BLGU Officials, 6 Irrigators Association Officials and key personnel of NIA-Caraga Regional Office and Surigao del Sur IMO.
