FOUR (4) MILLION PESOS WORTH OF PHILMEC MACHINERIES GRANTED TO SANLACA IRRIGATORS ASSOCIATION INC.

Commitment, Perseverance, and Dedication: these three attributes that SANLACA Irrigators Association President, Mr. Joseph Aguilar upholds and frequently shares with his team for the success of the organization.

Today, April 30, 2024, the Machineries Ceremonial Blessing and Turn-over for SANLACA Irrigators Association (IA) under National Irrigation Administration-AWRIS supervision was successfully administered at Brgy. Catmonon Gym, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

The efforts of the Convergence Program resulted in the grant to the aforementioned IA being the recipient of a Machinery Package from the DA-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development & Mechanization (PhilMec) in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office and LGU-Esperanza, amounting to ₱4,000,000.00 (4 Million Pesos) which consists of: (1) Combined Harvester, (1) Rotavator, (2) Mud Boat, (1) Trailer, and (1) Kuliglig.

Members of the Sanguniang Bayan of LGU Esperanza along with its Committee Chairperson on Agriculture,Hon. Manuel Perez, emphasized his belief that SANLACA IA farmers will achieve best agricultural results under Mr. Aguilar's active leadership. Engr. Eugene G. Pedregosa, NIA ADS IMO Engineering & Operations Department Head accompanied by NIA AWRIS Key staff, PhilMec Science Research Specialist Jayvee Ruluna, MAO Esperanza Rice Coordinator Ismael Saguran, ABC President of LGU Esperanza Hon. NIA ADS IMO 2nd Provincial Convergence Meeting CY 2024 - A Success!

In today’s rapidly evolving socio-economic environment, collaboration among government agencies is essential for tackling complex issues, discussion on Intervention of various agencies, and optimizing resources. Conducting convergence meeting among government agencies is to foster synergy, innovation, and efficiency in the delivery of public services to every farmer.

Discussions on MASAGANA Rice Industry Development Program, Updates of RSBSA, Status of NIA-DPWH Convergence Program (Kalsada Tungo sa Patubigan Year 2), Updates on Validation of IA for Post-Harvest Facilities, Insurance on Crop Damage & Orientation for Underwriter (IA’s), Livelihood Program of DOLE, and DAR Programs for ARB’s were tackled.

Engr. Peter E. Pablo – Division Manager of NIA Agusan del Sur asserted that NIA does not only focus on providing water for irrigation for farmers but also active in promoting them to avail different programs to other various agencies.
Present during the meeting are the Federation Presidents, Six (6) National Gov't Agencies: (DA-APCO, DOLE, DAR, PAVO-Agusan del Sur, PCIC, DPWH 1st & 2ND District), NIA ADS IMO's and Institutional Development Unit Personnel.

NIA ASDI IMO leads the conduct of its MONTHLY PROVINCIAL CONVERGENCE FORUM

NIA ASDI IMO leads the conduct of its MONTHLY PROVINCIAL CONVERGENCE FORUM today, April 26, 2024, at NIA-ASDI-IMO Conference Hall, Ambago, Butuan City. Thirteen (13) government agencies have participated the meeting including: DENR-Caraga, National Anti-Poverty Council (NAPC), BFAR-Caraga, DAR-Caraga, DPWH-Caraga, PAO-Agusan del Norter, CAO-Butuan, CAO-Cabadbaran, MAO-Santiago, MAO-Jabonga, MAO-Buenavista, MAO-Nasipit and MAO-Las Nieves. During the forum, NIA-ASDI-IMO presented its convergence accomplishments as well as its current initiatives for the local farmers.

NGAs presented their available Agri-support programs and services, status and accomplishments of the F2C2 rice cluster and RSBSA per municipality and city. This forum envisions to create a unified and coordinated approach among government agencies, working towards the common goal of empowering farmers, improving agricultural practices and ensuring food security for the province of Agusan del Norte as well as the exploration of opportunities for collaboration or joint projects from all NGAs and LGUs involved.

ANOTHER LEAP OF AGRICULTURAL SUCCESS!

APRIL 23, 2024-Serving as the second phase after the Rice Contact Farming Program’s complete roll out, this serves as an efficient key component to combat concerns on food security as balanced fertilization in rice cultivation will contribute to a more sustainable and substantial rice harvest.

After the Rice Contract Farming’s official launch last March 20,2024, the National Irrigation Administration CARAGA has done it again, as it successfully distributed Fertilizers to the contracting farmer/irrigators with NIA through a ceremony held at NIA CANTIS Compound, Madrid, Surigao del Sur.

Parties involved during the ceremony include: Hon. Melanie Joy Momo-Guno, representative of Congressman Romeo S. Momo, Surigao del Sur 1st District Rep., Hon. Philip A. Pichay, Municipal Mayor of Cantilan along with his Barangay Captains, Mr. Domingo Viduya, representative from Surigao del Sur Provincial Agriculture Office, Ms. Sara Jane Nadala, Phil. Crop Insurance Corporation representative, Mr. Carl Joseph Paqueo, representative from DA-National Food Authority, IA Officials, NIA-Caraga Regional Management personnel, headed by its Operations & Maintenance Chief, Engr. The Provincial Government is taking initiatives to support the farmers

The Provincial Government is taking initiatives to support the farmers, fisherfolk organizations, and cooperatives in Surigao del Norte. The government is organizing the 1st semester province-wide cluster forum on April 4, 2024, which aims to provide learning interventions to all cluster leaders. This forum will address the needs of the commodity clusters on rice, high-value crops, corn, poultry, and fisheries.

Additionally, this activity will help strengthen the partnership among agency partners and the local government in the implementation of the farm and fisheries clustering and consolidation (F2C2) program. It's encouraging to see the government taking such initiatives to achieve a prosperous and secure life for all Surigaonons.

BLESSING OF 20 NEW MOTOR VEHICLES TO BE USED FOR FIELD OPERATIONS ALL THROUGHOUT CARAGA

April 05, 2024 - To exemplify NIA’s commitment to modernize its equipment and give emphasis on procurement for the smooth operation and maintenance (O&M) of all its irrigation systems throughout Caraga, the 20 new motorcycle units from Honda Philippines, Inc. were blessed today by Fr. Joesilo C. Amalla at NIA Caraga Compound, Bancasi, Butuan City.

These new motorcycle units shall be given to the three (3) Irrigation Management Offices (ADS, SDS, and ASDI IMO) to be used to keep tabs on NIA projects for an efficient monitoring system, especially those located in remote areas, which shall contribute to more efficient operational services at the regional and IMO levels.

These units are also expected to offer enhanced accessibility, streamline functionality, and serve as a contemporary take on modern transportation since NIA-Caraga is fully committed to implementing all its plans and programs for the agricultural sector and initiatives that will help farmer-irrigator beneficiaries in the future. NIA Caraga's top management, headed by EOD Manager Rosalina B. Caiña, AFD Manager Evelyn C. Encarnado and all its key personnel witnessed the ceremony.

Andanan-Wawa RIS released an IA Subsidy

rue to the National Irrigation Administration’s Quality Policies to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of the Irrigation System. The NIA: Andanan-Wawa RIS released an IA Subsidy during the Regular Monthly Federation Meeting on April 05, 2024, to 24 Twenty-Four Irrigators Association amounting to Seven Hundred Nineteen Thousand Pesos (719,000.00 php) for the implementation of IA activities that focused on Operations, Maintenance and repair of the Irrigation and Canal Facilities in its area of jurisdiction based on their Financial Plan and Maintenance Plan.

Federation President Nemesio Niog Jr. Extended his words of gratitude on behalf of AWRIS-Federation of Irrigators Association for NIA’s continued support to farmers in promoting IA Programs in increasing rice production. Engr. Peter E. Pablo, Division Manager- A NIA ADS IMO, Engr. Wilson S. Nazareta, System Head, and NIA AWRIS key personnel were present in the meeting.

March 26,2024 |Launching of Kadiwa - Aiming to empower the farming community by providing a direct and effective farm-to-consumer food supply chain, NIA ADS IMO Division Manager, Engr. Peter E. Pablo leads today’s Launching of Kadiwa in collaboration with Hon. William Calvez, Municipal Mayor of Trento at its at Municipal Grounds located in Trento, Agusan Del Sur. The federated Irrigators Associations (IAs) under NIA Simulao River Irrigation System’s water irrigation services sell their various agricultural products during this event.

NIA Caraga joins the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair

March 22–23, 2024: NIA Caraga joins the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair to show its full and continued support for the administration’s initiative to substantially bring government services closer to the people. During the two-day caravan, the office provides the Certificate of Irrigation Service Fee (ISF) Exemption and the Operations and Maintenance Subsidy to thirty (30) beneficiaries, for a total of Php 500 thousand in subsidy to the Irrigators Associations.

300 FARMERS PLEDGE TO COMMIT

March 20, 2024 - NIA CARAGA: First to Launch Rice Contract Farming

National Irrigation Administration (NIA) launched its new scheme to attain food security and rice sufficiency through Caraga as its pilot region for “Rice Contract Farming” at Madrid Convention Center, Madrid, Surigao del Sur.

The 16 Irrigators Association (IAs) from municipalities of Cantilan and Madrid convened earlier today and inked the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Rice Farming Contract that shall cover an overall agricultural service area of 2,042 hectares. This is to better serve NIA’s clientele—farmers, allowing to create a more favorable conditions for them to improve the performance of the entire value chain which shall increase production, reduce transaction costs, and improve the quality of their agri-output after harvest.

The Rice Contract Farming shall also serve as a platform to promote sustainable agriculture and shall give an opportunity to increase the revenue of small-scale and marginalized farmers to participate in the market economy ensuring production to have a guaranteed market outlet as NIA have contributed to the development of irrigated agriculture which enabled the cultivation of capable and resilient producers to guarantee rice production of the highest quality.
