Newly installed NIA-Caraga Regional Manager, Engr. Ruby C. Tuan Jr. spearheads today’s convergence meeting at NIA Conference Hall, Bancasi, Butuan City.

The call for convergence among line national government agencies (NGAs) is needed for continuous collaboration and cooperation, thereby creating linkages for Caraga farmers to other NGAs for availment of various services, programs, and projects made available to them in order to contribute to and strengthen our agricultural productivity in the region.

Regional Executive Director Engr. Ricardo M. Oñate, Jr. of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Caraga and its family, DA-ATI, DA-BFAR, and DA-NFA, presented their Cluster Development Plan, which will be implemented over the next five years.

Also in attendance are representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), as are Provincial Agriculturists from the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

ONGOING CONVERGENCE OF NIA-CARAGA WITH DWPH

A Joint Site Validation on the proposed Farm-To-Market Road (FMR) with DPWH has been conducted in the Province of Dinagat Islands by the Technical Survey Team of the NIA-Surigao del Norte Satellite Office.

The proposed FMRs shall benefit the Campintac Communal Irrigation System (CIS) at Brgy. Panamaon, Municipality of Loreto, Doña Helene CIS at Brgy. Doña Helene, Municipality of Basilisa and Cayetano CIS at Brgy. Cayetano, Municipality of Dinagat.

FMRs will help the farmers have easier, more secure, faster, and less costly access to transport their agricultural produce to the market, boosting the local economy in their province, which will encourage local farmers to increase agricultural outputs annually as well as prioritize initiatives to contribute to the much-needed economic revival of our nation.

NIA Internal Audit Services (IAS) Auditors and its team, continues its audit through conduct of Internal Control Assessment for Operations Level at NIA Caraga, Bancasi, Butuan City.

The audit's primary purpose is to determine which policies issued have been put into action at all levels from top management down to the regional level through the Regional Irrigation Manager’s administration and supervision as well as the Division Managers, IMO Managers, Section Chiefs down to Unit heads, Project-in-Charge and all involved personnel of the agency.

Also, assessments will be carried out at Irrigation Management Offices in Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Norte-Surigao del Norte-Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte Satellite Office to accurately determine which implemented policies have yielded great results.

IAS team is composed of Ms. Wenonah J. Dela Vega and Ms. Khristine J. Coronel who will assess the aspect of Engineering and Operations, Ms. Rigel S. Delgado and Ms. Charmaine O. Abiog who will assess the Financial aspect and Ms. Khristine Joy C. Ortile for Procurement and Administrative aspect.

PHOTO NEWS | NIA CARAGA CONDUCTED MATERIAL TESTING FOR QUALITY CONTROL (MTQC) AND GEORESISTIVITY ANALYSIS FOR STA. PAZ PUMP IRRIGATION PROJECT (PIP) AT SAN ISIDRO, SIARGAO ISLAND, SURIGAO DEL NORTE.

To ensure the reliability and quality of materials used in the construction of irrigation facilities as means of providing water irrigation services to irrigators/farmer beneficiaries in Sta.Paz PIP, personnel from NIA-Caraga Regional Office together with ASDI-IMO & SDN Satellite Office Technical and Survey team, conducted Material Testing and Quality Control (MTQC) through constructing of concrete tub for curing of concrete sample, trial mix and slump test.

This shall exhibit results if there is an elevated chance of liability, that may potentially shorten the life span of the project.

Also, for the month of May 2023, a Georesistivity Analysis was carried out in order to guarantee that there will be reliable water source from the ground that shall continuously supply the solar-powered pump irrigation project as NIA is truly committed to provide efficient and effective irrigation services to the farmers.

NIA-CARAGA JOINS SIMULTANEOUS TREE PLANTING

As NIA marks its 60th Anniversary, NIA-Caraga, headed by Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza, together with Regional Irrigation Office Management and Agusan del Norte-Surigao del Norte-Dinagat Islands (ASDI)-IMO Personnel, successfully conducts its tree-planting activity with the theme “Tao, Agrikultura at Kalikasan Para sa Progresibong Kaunlaran”. This event annually takes place all throughout the country during the month of June.

RM Plaza emphasized in his message, that the CONVERGENCE of various national government agencies (NGAs) in Caraga region continues which can be observed through their engagement and participation in today’s activity.

About 400 seedlings of dwarf coconut trees provided by Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)-Caraga and 200 fire tree seedlings were planted at Lower Agusan River Pump Irrigation (LARPIS), Brgy. Bit-os, Butuan City in an effort to support the irrigators/farmer beneficiaries in the said location. In the span of three years, the dwarf coconut seedlings will begin bearing fruit, which shall serve as a good long-term investment for them.

Meanwhile, in the next five years, the fire tree seedlings will mature into magnificent ornamental trees, transforming this site into a popular tourist destination which shall give the residents of Brgy. Bit-os a new source of income- local tourism.

At the tree-planting site were also representatives from Philippine National Police (PNP) Butuan City Police Station, Department of Agriculture (DA)-Caraga and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Caraga.

NIA SDS-IMO OFFICIAL PROJECT TURN-OVER OF HAGUIMITAN SMALL IRRIGATION PROJECT (SIP) AT SITIO HAGUIMITAN, BRGY. BOLHOON, SAN MIGUEL, SURIGAO DEL SUR.

With NIA-Caraga Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza's directive, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Surigao del Sur Irrigation Management Office (SDS-IMO) with its Manager, Engr. Adeline H. Manlunas and key staff, spearheads the blessing, inauguration and ceremonial turn-over of Haguimitan SIP to Haguimitan Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc.

The ceremony marks another significant achievement for NIA-Caraga in terms of progress of the aforementioned project from planning and construction up to its turn-over. About 69 farmers shall benefit the irrigation services from this project with total of Php 30 million peso spent for the construction of its water sources- the dam and canal structures which shall provide irrigation services to an estimated 80 hectares of agricultural land. A presentation in terms of the project's profile and accomplishments, has been presented by Engr. Gozon.

HAFIA President Mr. Alejandro Asubar, thanked everyone who had worked tirelessly for the completion of the project.He urged the all members of HAFIA to effectively oversee as well as maintain the water irrigation facilities, so that the future generations can still use it.
